Building Business Capacity For A Sustainable Tomorrow

We help emerging contractors become bond-ready.

Your gift helps emerging contractors become bond-ready — so they can win larger contracts, hire from their own communities, and grow the economy.

A workforce-development nonprofit — we help emerging contractors get ready to compete and win.

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” — the principle at the center of everything MBDI does.

The Problem

Capable contractors. Closed doors.

Across underserved communities, skilled construction firms exist with the character and capacity to do the work — but without surety bonding, they can’t compete for the larger contracts that create jobs and build wealth.

The barrier isn’t talent. It’s access to bonding.

How It Works

We help firms get ready — we don’t lower the bar.

Rather than waiving standards or handing out capital, MBDI invests in education and advisory support that lasts. The result is a business that’s genuinely ready to perform.

Step 01

Educate

We train CEOs and management teams in financial literacy, back-office operations, and project management. Participants are assessed, and those who pass earn a certificate — proof of bonding and project-readiness, not just attendance.

Step 02

Advise

One-on-one advisory consulting guides each firm through the full surety bond application and management process — preparing them for a first bond, or a larger one.

Step 03

Bond & Build

A surety bond is the industry’s signal that a business is project-ready. Once bonded, a firm can bid for and manage the larger public and commercial contracts that were out of reach.

Bonded = Project Ready.  Ready businesses win bigger contracts — and bigger contracts create jobs.

Workforce Development

More than businesses — we help build a workforce.

When an emerging contractor becomes bond-ready and wins a larger contract, they hire. Helping a single business owner ripples outward into jobs in neighborhoods that have been left behind.

That’s the point. MBDI’s education isn’t only business training — it’s workforce development at the root. We help develop construction executives, and the firms they lead lift families from poverty into the middle class and expand the local tax base.

Questions, answered.

Yes. MBDI Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. You’ll receive a receipt for your records.

Absolutely. Monthly giving is the most powerful way to support our work — it lets us plan and sustain full program cycles. Just choose “Give monthly” in the donation panel above. A gift of $50/month sponsors an emerging contractor through a core bonding course.

Your gift funds education and advisory support — the training, coaching, and bonding-readiness work that helps a capable small business become bonded and hiring. We invest in lasting capacity, not one-time hand-outs, because a contractor that isn’t ready shouldn’t be set up to fail.
